How Far Does The Media Push You?

Greetings, intellectuals

Mediabully here. Yes, I'm back... again! Did you miss me?

We'll I wanted to share with you guys another insightful video that discusses the media's effect on society. This video presents many issues and I'm curious to see what you guys have to think about it. The following video is about a machine with a doll face that mimics images on a television screen in search of a satisfactory visage.

I'd like you to ask yourself what questions this video raises? How far does the media push us to do certain things? Is television a form of hypnosis? It will be helpful for me to push the discussion along in an upcoming post so please leave a comment below and if you want more info on the subject, scroll down to read my past entry "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich! [The Official Media Blogio]" which provides many insightful links as well.

Enjoy and until next time, Shalom

  1. Conformity means dieing to yourself; killing everything that makes you different and unique. That is was the media wants. In the beginning, the changes are subtle and manageable. But when analyzed as a whole, you become someone else and something else.

  2. This video was very intriguing and had a deeper meaning behind the obvious copying of a doll face. The robot copying the TV screen images was visibly lacking individuality and personality. The robot only had various functions that were solely used to mimic other looks. It was as if the machine could only survive by having the appearance of someone from the media. The lost of one's identity could possibly happen if the media sucks you too far into its contents. The constant willingness and determination to look exactly like someone other than yourself can be overwhelming and eventually start to affect you mentally and physically. For example, there are a lot of look-a-likes in the world that have fooled the public that they were someone in the celebrity world. For example, I have seen someone dress and live their life to look exactly like Paris Hilton. This constant thirst to be someone else loses the real person they are and sucks the unique individuality out of that person to transform into someone they're not.
